Do I buy food, or medications?

Help me not to choose

Buy Kilograms of Dignity for those who have nothing to eat.

If you’re an elderly person with ailing health, receiving a pension of PLN 1,200.00, and you have to choose whether to buy food for 2-3 days or your heart medication…
If you’re a single mother with four children, and you have to choose whether to buy shoes for your children or pay for school lunches…
If you suddenly become ill and are unable to work, and you have to choose whether to buy food or pay your bills…
The choice can be a difficult one to make. Every such choice strips you of dignity.

The food offered by the Food Bank allows one to skip these choices altogether.
Help the poor restore their dignity – buy kilograms of dignity!

Pani Urszula i Pan Andrzej

I had no job; my husband earned a little as a painter, but his legs started ailing and he had to stop working. It turned out that he was ill and had to retire on disability” – says Urszula. “Around the same time, one of our sons and I both fell ill too. It was difficult to live. We asked for help and started getting food packages. That was 15 years ago, and that’s how it is today. My husband’s health worsened and he needed my constant care. I cannot go to work. We live on welfare. We have just a little over PLN 1,000 to spend on living every month. Every month we wonder how to spend that money wisely. We pay our rent, then we pay the power bill, buy prescription medications, purchase some food... We are not always able to afford the OTC medications needed by my husband. We don't even think what else we would like to have. Good thing we receive food. It’s that aid that helps us survive. If it weren’t for that, things would have been really bad for us.

Pani Katarzyna

My life is a neverending struggle. I raise my children on my own. My older son is afflicted by an incurable disease and needs 24/7 care. I am unable to go back to work. I can’t leave my son at home. We barely make ends meet. I had situations where I was unable to pay my water bill. I had to request payment deferrals. I am a conscientious person – to me, bread, bills, and food for my children are sacred. Ever since I found myself alone with my children, I had to tighten my belt quite a bit, so that we could afford this humbler existence. My health permitting, I try my best to perform some odd jobs. When I came back home with food from the Food Bank, I burst into tears. That was such a great help to me. I’ve never expected to receive this much good. I am extremely grateful and happy that I got it and that I will have something to prepare food for my family.

We collect food. We restore dignity.
