For us, food equals dignity.
Every day, many cars filled with foodstuffs leave our storehouse.
They are delivered to:
- the lonely,
- the sick,
- the elderly,
- those with disabilities,
- people afflicted by homelessness,
- large families,
- as well as single parents.
Only in Warsaw and in the neighbouring areas, there are tens of thousands of poor people who are handed out food items from the SOS Food Bank in Warsaw.
For many people, providing food for themselves and their families entails everyday dilemmas and difficult choices. Do I spend the money on food, or on bills, or on medications and treatment? Having to make such choices strips one of their dignity.
Each of these people needs food in order to survive. We wish to give it to them so that they may feed themselves and their families. So that they may again feel the hope to survive, as well as safety and dignity.
Every year, our SOS Food Bank in Warsaw collects a five-digit number of tonnes of food items to hand out to people who need it the most.
- We operate on a large scale – we collect and segregate the food we procure in our storehouse, then hand it out to NGOs and aid institutions that provide direct help to poor people in need.
- We run the Point “pod Parasolem” in Warsaw’s Wola district – through that facility, we hand out food packages to those in need directed to us by the Wola District Social Assistance Centre.
