Settle your PIT for those who have nothing to eat

In May 2022, we opened our aid facility, the “Umbrella Point”. It’s here, in Warsaw’s Wola, that people who have no food line up to receive aid packages. These people include the elderly, the lonely, the poor and those of ailing health.

A frequent guest of ours is Hania, who raises three children on her own and has no job.
Another one is Maria, whose husband died, and her pension only lets her pay her basic bills.
And Henryk, who is seriously ill and is ashamed to ask for help every time. We could describe as many as 1,600 stories – because that’s how many people come to our facility.

When we were hanging our Bank’s logo on the building’s wall, we made a commitment to always have food available for people who come to get it. And we want to live up to it.

For that end, we need the help of others.
When filling out your PIT form this year, please remember about those who have nothing to eat. Because food lets one live with dignity.

The 1.5% of your PIT money that you may contribute to the SOS Food Bank in Warsaw translates into a can of food, a kilogram of flour, or a bottle of oil that a person in need may bring home.

Get to know the stories of those we take care of

Joanna is 38 years old and raises her daughter on her own. Several years ago she fell ill, lost a good job, and, as a consequence, she lost her peaceful life. Her disease has her bed-ridden. She had to learn how to walk again. It was then when she started being afraid again.

How does one survive a month for PLN 1,290?

“I look at every coin twice” – said Joanna. “Every day, I have to make difficult choices. What do I buy: food or medications? Do I pay my rent, or my bills? I have to face such choices every day.”

Joanna still fears for her health, but now she doesn’t have to constantly think how to get food and whether she will be able to prepare good meals for her daughter.

How to deduct the donation made to the Foundation last year from my taxes?

f you supported the SOS Food Bank in Warsaw last year, you may apply a donation-based tax reduction, thus paying a lower tax.

The entire amount donated to the foundation is subject to deduction (though no more than 6% of the entire net income amount). The deduction is made based on a proof of payment to our bank account.

Include the PIT/O attachment with your tax return. Enter the amount of deductions for the year, the amount of the donation, and the organisation’s data (Bank Żywności SOS w Warszawie, ul. Bodycha 97, Reguły, 05-820 Piastów I).

Remember that, even after having applied a donation-based tax deduction, you can still transfer 1.5% of your PIT money to our Foundation.

Can I deduct the donation from my tax and still transfer 1.5% of my PIT money?

Yes. A donation made in tax year 2022 is a separate manner of financially supporting the organisation, therefore all regular and one-time donations may be deducted from one’s tax.

You may still transfer 1.5% of your PIT money even when deducting donations.

All forms of support you give us make it possible for poor people to receive food from us.

Will I lose part of my tax rebate if I transfer the 1.5%?

No. Transferring the 1.5% will not impact the amount of the rebate.

The surplus tax paid is refunded within 3 months from having filed the tax form or from the settlement of the National Revenue Administration.
